Evaluating neuroscience on Malcolm Gladwell and Jonah Lehrer is a hell of a lot like basing your opinion of conservative legislation and fiscal philosophy on Clint Eastwood and a chair.
I happen to like Malcolm Gladwell's writing (but I don't accept him as an authority on scientific subjects as I would someone like Neil deGrasse Tyson or Kirk Cameron)

Administrative Bloat is one of the biggest problems with education becasue it takes vast sums of money away from actually performing the duty of the institution.
It misappropriates large amounts of money. In public schools it's difficult to obtain needed supplies, so much so that teachers spend thier own money to buy things they need for thier classrooms, yet administrators collect vast sums of money in salaries despite having very little to do with the actual education of students.
We're building 60 million dollar football stadiums for high school teams and painting murals on walls, but we can't buy enough chemistry supplies to teach a decent 10th grade chemistry class.
High performing people don't need much administration to perform thier duties.

Not all schools do this, but this isn't about administrators or educators, it's about what the local cultures want. If the parent's and society's emphasis wasn't on football, the stadiums wouldn't be getting built. Can't blame the administrators for doing what the parents want.

Fair Point, but if we're going to ask so many people at the bottom of the pay scale to do more and multi task I don't think it is too much to ask a group of school administrators (before we even get to county and state) to do more. IE, Maybe forgo one of 2 or 3 80K a year assistant principals and ask the Principal to do more.

I totally agree, but those are the jorbs that encourage educators to seek advanced degrees in education, so it can be a two edged sword
