There is a ban on dancing at the Jefferson Memorial. There was a recent court case that upheld this ban. These protestors organized a flash mob of silent dancing in an act of civil disobedience and were arrested as a result.

On a side note, I hate when anyone uses the "What would (insert forefather's name here) say about this?!" line. He wouldn't say anything, because he's dead.

For some reason I keep thinking this thread is about the royal wedding.

go looking for trouble and trouble will find you. Its like a mod telling you not to post a picture of your ass again and you do it defiantly, earning a vacation.

Come on. This guy was arrested for using a flash mob to protest a ban on dancing at national monuments. A flash mob. To protest a ban on dancing at national monuments. He literally spent part of his life organizing a flash mob to protest a ban on dancing at national monuments. I would respect him more if he organized a Glee marathon at his local Forever21 store.

Finally, something I've done has gotten me the respect I want from broken iris!

Please. I said Forever21, not Torrid.

Sad thing is that according to his Wiki page, this guy was a legitimate anti-war protester. Maybe something about protesting the war turns you into a self-righteous attention whore who thinks it's cool to distract the police from doing their jobs while you throw a hissy-fit and video tape it.

Spoiler: show

If any cop thinks it is any type of priority to arrest people to sway and dance in silence then that cop should be arrested for not being able to prioritize his/her time and not being to make risk assessments. As stupid as the law is, it's even a stupidier cop that would waste his/her time (paid for by you and I) to arrest people for silent dancing.

That's not really how it works. If there is a crime in process, they address it--they don't really get to make a judgement call on whether it's "worth their time" or not. People causing a disturbance at a National Monument probably doesn't seem like a big deal to some people, but the general idea behind the law is probably to keep people from making a scene at a place that should be reserved for people who wish to visit without some assclown drawing attention to himself.

And I side with whoever said this guy needs to protest something that matters. This guy sounds like a self-important jerkoff who was doing little more than trying to cause a scene, and he probably deserved to be arrested just on that principal alone.

Sounds like a really good opportunity for some senator to set aside some public land for the exact purpose of giving assclowns a place to make a scene. Think of the public benefit if we could steer all the scene making assclowns into the same area? I vote somewhere in Central Arizona or Nevada.

Right, the last thing I want to do is trample upon the rights of scene making assclowns. The SMA community have every right to express themselves. The reason they've taken these drastic measures is because they really have no other choice. If we don't provide federally protected plots of land and proper funding for them to practice assclownery (and realted activities) we have only ourselves to blame when they take to our national monuments in an effort to make themselves look like complete tools.

I'm calling my congressman.
