as a matter of security, the Secret Service has always limited stuff like this. as the article notes, clinton sent a total of 2 emails and bush wasnt allowed to use email, both instances for fear of a hacker
but obama claiming he cant keep connected to the "people" without his blackberry is insane.
if you want to connect to people so much and fear you wont be able to, why move into a white house with guards and gates and everything else

I thought he agreed to give it up.
I suppose if the Secret Service says it's a security risk than you keep using it at the nation's peril. All of that personal stuff could theoretically be used to gain power of the President. Can't he just have a guy that walks around behind him with an encrypted laptop reading off e-mails as they come in?

You are the government. You are the militia. And I make a difference, too.

What puts the country at risk if someone hacks into his BlackBerry and gets pictures of his family, emails to friends, or perhaps the PIN number to his personal bank account?

i dont think the article ever mentions the country being at risk, but the president. the services job is to protect the president, unless its a loaded shoe thrown at him, in which case, obama wouldnt touch bush's cat like reflexes
