I think we all get it wrong to one degree or another. I think the closest thing to "the one true religion" would just involve loving God (in whatever form you see God) and truly loving your neighbour and acting accordingly. Not sure it would involce religion in any way.

You're saying if a kid's brought up atheist, there's little chance of them becoming religious? It's the same as a kid choosing to worship a different god, or gods, from their parents (or no gods at all for that matter). It's a matter of adopting a different belief system...and no, I don't think it's all a matter of reactionary rebellious behaviour.
