I'm not sure implementation of some sort of universal food allocation system is worth talking about unless we talk about whether or not you believe humans, in societies that can afford it, ought to be provided food, somewhat like education.
From the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
* (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
companies are profiting from exploiting basic human needs. what we need now is benevolent, all-knowing governments and politicians to summon enough political will to make sure every human has the ability to consume food of some baseline quality/quantity.

why not? people are DYING, ceebs. millions die from starvation each year, more than would have died in one hundred 9/11s.

Seriously though. Is being able to feed one's self a right? If yes, how can all people come to realize this right? What is the main obstacle standing in the way of eliminating starvation on a mass scale? How can this obstacle be overcome? Is government the proper tool to use, or does it often actually only exacerbate the problem further?

Right, but I'm not arguing we ought to completely reshape the food system worldwide. Like Bart said, it's about properly distributing what ought to be distributed but currently isn't, whether it's resources for food or the food itself. It's not about changing existing food stores to equalize prices for all.
