That campaign isn't as good as this one: http://www.thinkb4youspeak.com/

The R-word.org website is really bad.

The ads designed by BBDO New York, will challenge the public -- with language meant to raise eyebrows -- to think about the issue more deeply. The campaign uses slurs against Asians, homosexuals, Jews and African-Americans to make the point that language can be harmful to all groups, including people with intellectual disabilities.

These ads sound like they are going to be awesome.

He told Leno that he bowled 129 in the White House bowling alley and said his bowling skills are "like Special Olympics or something."

It's just one thing after another:
-bitter and clinging to guns and religion
-typical white person
-comparing STDs to having kids

And only Obama would get away with this. Until he starts being treated like a president, he'll continue to get away with stupid shit like this. If Bush said this, he would've been out of office immediately. There's just no context to it. Getting away with words is only the beginning of it.

The Special Olympics remark was awful. I volunteer twice a week at a well-known teaching hospital, and there are special needs children everywhere. I see first-hand what they're able to do. Some of them volunteer as well. There's no evidence that says their capabilities are truly limited. I think this goes beyond a politically incorrect joke gone bad.

I think this needs to happen:

Quote:
Special Olympics asks Obama to consider hiring athlete

(CNN) — The Special Olympics organization is calling on President Obama to "consider" hiring one of their athletes to work in the White House, following the president's reference to the organization during his Thursday night appearance on The Tonight Show.

“In so doing, he could help end misperceptions about the talents and abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, and demonstrate their dignity and value to the world," Timothy Shriver, the chairman of the Special Olympics, said in a statement released Friday morning.

Shriver also said the president was heartfelt in his apology, but added "words hurt and words matter."

"Words can cause pain and result in stereotypes that are unfair and damaging to people with intellectual disabilities,” Shriver said in the statement. “And using "Special Olympics" in a negative or derogatory context can be a humiliating put-down to people with special needs.”

It's ludicrous, completely ridiculous. The hypocrisy is stunning, soon enough you will not be allowed to say ANYTHING.

Bateman, you're so clueless. Can't you see Obama is getting special treatment here? Imagine the public outcry if someone who was TRULY ignorant or bigoted had made a joke like this.

I remember that. Rush should've been pulled off the air immediately. I admire Fox responding in a nice tone, but he could've torn him a new one if he wanted to.
