Let's all have a good laugh, shall we?

There.

We last left off where I was certain something was going to happen, but completely uncertain as to what that something was going to be. After meeting with my supervisor, discussing things over the phone with her and our boss boss, it was clear that the main offender in this case would either be fired, forced to resign, or moved to an agency.

Now, you're probably going, "Why the fuck wouldn't he be fired?"

In the past two months, our office has fired two people for the same reason; pornography at work. In the first case, a male head of an agency was let go because he used images on his computer to "intimidate" female coworkers, and even sent material to female coworkers.

Clearly sexual harassment.

The press got a hold of it, and our big big big boss fired the fuck out of him.

The second case was a writer we hired from a newspaper out of Jacksonville. He did not surf the porn at our office, but when it was found out the reason he was let go from his last job was pretty similar to the previous case of sexual harassment, he was dropped.

Now on to my case.

My boss is neither as public or important as the two previous guys. But he does operate our office's website. Which creates a nice headline for the press. Anyway, he's established himself as a cemented stateworker. When I told my supervisors I would not charge sexual harassment, and that I'd rather see him stop than fired, I think it was clear they were in the safe zone to just move him out. Plus, you have to remember, this was never a malicious thing for me. It was what I consider best for the office.

No one really knows what's happening right now, except for me, the guy, and the several people I complained to.

I have not approached anyone asking what is happening. But here's what I have determined from his recent activities and several meetings we've had.

1) He is leaving for a week to go visit his father with no other reason than, "I haven't seen him in so long." Conveniently, he called an emergency meeting Monday after he spent almost all day in our boss' office with the door closed.

2) He is looking for new jobs. Where once I saw penis on the monitor in his office, I now see job apps and reworkings of a resume.

3) There is a letter of resignation. I have also seen him working on this.

4) I am in contention for his position. He has upped my responsibilities ten-fold, and I've been approached with more budget and policy work than before. This increases my guilt in a massively nasty way.

Regardless, I am the only staffer to remain in the office for the next week. Strangely, our third member is taking the week off, too. I won't think too much of it. But I feel like i"m either being subvertly punished or tested. Our intern will help, but she's only here half a day.

I plan on meeting with my supervisor to ask for an update, use that time to make sure my anonymity is in check.

Just a morning FYI.

Hopefully the twisting stomach and sleepless nights will slow down next week, since I won't have to look him in the eye every day.

EDIT: Could I get this locked around noon today?

You have no reason to feel guilty in any way. He put you in this awkward position by displaying massive cocks on his computer. If you get his job, you probably deserve it.

I'm not suprised to see that he didn't get fired. A company's responsibility is to stop all sexual harrassment. That doesn't always mean firing someone. I know of someone who was a harrasser and didn't realize he was doing it. They called him in and he was shocked and apologized and felt bad. He was disciplined, but not fired. He learned what he was doing and stopped.

I did the investigation on another allegation later, and the guy came in the room and before we even asked him a question, he declared that the investigation was bullshit and "that girl" didn't have any right to say what she did, and he was going to sue the living fuck out of our organization.

I escorted him to the door and had the contents of his desk mailed to him once the paperwork was completed.

Course of action always depends on how an investigation goes.

No, I think Star Wars and wanking to gay porn may have been in the same room together a few times.

i think you did the right thing. it sounds like this guy is being petty and taking it out on everyone around him. if the complaint was confidential, then he's likely just trying to take it out on everyone since he doesn't know who it was that complained. or maybe he knows you are next in line for his job and is trying to take it out on you. when people are cornered they do pretty fucked up things.
