I agree. But I will go one step further...

Jokes would be no problem if everyone in society was intelligent, decent, and above all, fair.

However - many are not. So just because you or I think it's funny, doesn't mean it can't cause long term harm to a society (perpetuating stereotypes, that is).

There are many people who really think all Jews are greedy, money hungry, people - simply because that's what some jokes have told them.

so is it okay if i say something like, "asians are good at math" because it isn't unflattering? is the prejudice the problem, or is the fact that i'm making light of something the problem?
