I'm not that scared of them. And I'm definitely not in favor of military action which could result in the decimation of Seoul.

The only menace is the artillery pointed at Seoul, but nothing that the SK air force couldnt deal in 1 or 2 weeks.

Do you realize what 1 or 2 weeks of artillery bombardment would do to the city of Seoul? Just one barrage would kill thousands.

It'll never look like a European city in WWII, and I think that's what a lot of people envision. But this is still an epic situation. I would estimate that Lil Kim has nothing to lose, may be poor in health, and could be looking to draw himself up some sort of legacy.

Is it unreasonable to think that he's gone from nuclear blackmailer to complete and total lunatic that would actually attack Seoul?

Umm.... it's not their use of the weapons we should be scared of, it's their ability to proliferate weapon design and production technology that is something to fear.

KJI is simply the neighborhood asshole that is flexing his tiny muscles to the new president in an attempt to get some more protection money because in the past our diplomats have stupidly given him EXACTLY what he wanted in the first place. Honestly, I'm hoping this country will put pressure on other members of the security council to deal with this douchebag for once. Whatever they do paying him to stop yet again I hope is not even on the table. He should either cut the bullshit or risk being deposed. If he wasn't in proximity to South Korea... he'd have been dealt with more harshly already. They are the most relevant irrelavant country in the world.

North Korea is like a giant festering cancer on top of South Korea.

You can just feel the eye rolls at the UN whenever they make public statements about missle tests or nuclear facilities.

Are you fucking serious? We have to deal with this 3 ft shitbag... again?

Honestly, this should be Russia's issue. Ok Russia... want to be an international player again... deal with this guy.

Nuclear Proliferation is Kim Jong Ill's ATM card.

actually I think it's China that is the problem in dealing with those guys. They wouldn't survive at all without their help and tacit protection (nor would Myanmar).

Makes sense, I'm not sure what China gets out of that deal either.

Having this country fire missiles directly over where you're living is really fucked up.

This.

Countries like Syria and Iran get a lot of their technology and information through the black market that begins in N. Korea.

A fellow by the name of Peter Sack wrote a letter responding to a NYT piece about North Korea. He feels that nuclear deterence is reasonable and necessary because of the US and South Korea's aggressive stance and yearly wargames 'practicing an invasion of North Korea'.

Is this at all a reasonable assertion? Do combined US and South Korean forces on the peninsula have sufficient active duty troops to mount a full scale invasion? I presume their stance is generally defensive, and any agressive action would be necessary to push those 10,000 artillery tubes and rocket launchers just out of range of Seoul. It doesn't appear that North Korea has any significant population centers in a situation that is nearly as vulnerable.

Something tells me that kind of attack might not turn out so well if we tried it on NK.

No, no.

I was only showing that Syria wasnt that hard of dealing with.

To solve NK, only by letting the shit hit the fan.

Clearly giant mecha suits are the only weapons which can solve this problem.
