So I've got time now that it's summer. Anyone else up for a new book?

i'm up for something. i can post my prelim reading list for the summer in case anyone would be interested in anything on there tomorrow or thursday (maybe something on japan's lost decade? i'm planning on asking a professor i had for some good books/articles on it). or we can just pick something else, i'm sure i'd be up for most things (i guess paul collier shouldn't be involved...).

i'm not liking it because it only reads like a narrative, without offering much insight/analysis, and it's plagued with trivial details (it describes the decoration of the meeting room where the bankers met, what they had for dinner, where they went for holidays, biographic snippets of pretty much every character mentioned... ). i was expecting something else. removing all that trivia would've halved the book (it's over 450 pages in pdf).

or maybe the juicy stuff lies ahead.

Yeah, that doesn't sound very good.

I'm easy to please, so if someone feels strongly about a certain book, I'm likely game.

Wouldn't it be better to read argumentative books than works of history? Seems like there'd be much more to talk/fight about.

I think we need something inflammatory that will rub a lot of people the wrong way.
