Boy dies after alleged beating by father

Worcester (AP) -- A juvenile court judge will hear arguments in the case of a 7-year-old boy allegedly beaten into a coma by his father in Worcester.
The hearing Wednesday will determine whether to take Nathaniel Turner off of life support. The boy, who came to Massachusetts to spend the summer with his father, was declared clinically dead at a Worcester hospital. A spokesman for the Worcester District Attorney's office said Tuesday that, in light of the death, a murder investigation is now underway. The child's father, Leslie Schuler, was arraigned earlier in the day on assault charges in Central District Court and ordered held on $250,000 bail.
Investigators believe the boy was abused over the course of several weeks before being brought to the hospital by Schuler and his live-in girlfriend, Tiffany Hyman, on Father's Day.
Hyman also faces assault charges but her lawyer says she never hit the boy.
Relatives said Nathaniel had lived with his grandmother in Alabama before coming to live with his father for the summer.

The boy is still on life support but after tests being done on his brain activity/functions both today and 24 hours ago, he has been declared legally dead. This scumbag will indeed be charged with murder, and the family of the boy is now making decisions on organ donations.
