CNN Reports 1 Death, 'Massive Injuries' According to CNN and Sky News there has been a horrific metro crash
Reports out of Washington, D.C., Monday afternoon said that two Metro mass-transit trains collided during the evening rush hour.
CNN reported that at least one death had been confirmed and said that Metro reported "massive injuries." The network, which said it was also getting information from WJLA-TV, cited reports of nine injuries.
It also said it appeared that the crash involved trains on the green and red lines.
Images from the scene appeared to show one train atop another.

That sucks, but the DC Metro is easily the coolest and most useful thing in history. At least, it's the most useful mass transit I've ever used, and I haven't used much. You basically don't need a car, at all.

That says a lot BH, the Tube in london is pretty great too, you're never more than a walk away froma station. this story is sad though. few years ago they'd have been blaming al queda no doubt.

I've used the DC metro a lot, but both New York and Chicago beat it for convenience. BART in the Bay Area is on par with DC Metro, Boston is a bit better.

BART doesn't serve the suburbs very well.
Neither does the DC Metro.
It's hard to serve the suburbs very well, too sprawling. I've spent a lot of time in Brussels. They have a great public transportation system for the city, and they are a bit bigger than San Francisco. But they don't serve the suburbs very well either.
