Shit.

Quote:
Hundreds of bars, restaurants and stores across Minnesota are running out of beer and alcohol and others may soon run out of cigarettes -- a subtle and largely unforeseen consequence of a state government shutdown.

In the days leading up to the shutdown, thousands of outlets scrambled to renew their state-issued liquor purchasing cards. Many of them did not make it.

Now, with no end in sight to the shutdown, they face a summer of fast-dwindling alcohol supplies and a bottom line that looks increasingly bleak.

Now, how can the government enforce non-licensed alcohol selling if it's shut down????

They're taking a page from the Roger Goodell playbook.

CoorsMiller is pulling all their products off the shelves right now.

This better get straightened out before I go back to visit!

I am surprised there is not more national news on this...

i guess the governor could step in at anytime and state that the current licenses are good until the shutdown is resolved. which seems simple enough.

The courts are ordering many services to re-open/stay open/get funded through this...I gotta imagine something will happen with the alcohol licensing. With all the tax money from liquor sales that could potentially be lost when the state is scraping for revenue....

It seems like Dayton is the only one out there working his ass off trying to come to an agreement. He even offered up not taxing the top 7,700 residents of MN and instead have a cigarette tax, which felt like a big comprimse on his part. Still no dice from the republicans. its kind of the same thing thats going on witht he federal gov't.

Too many political games on all sides. Get the fucking state up and running or at least let me buy some beer, thanks MN

Oh absolutely.

Sounds like surly (my favorite local brew) is all fine and dandy with their licenses!

Problem is a lot of bars did not renew their license so whatever they have in stock now....is all they get.

Harassing people having fun is an essential government service.
