You've got 500 words: What are the core beliefs and/or values that guide your daily life?

Take your time on this one. I probably won't post mine for a few days. But I think we'll get interesting, thought-provoking responses.

I feel like this thread's been done without really having been done.

We've done it about religion, politics, economics, etc. But never something about your core beliefs and values that guide your daily lives. NPR used to or still does something like this. I think Murrow started the idea? Bad journalism memory here.

Shouldn't you at least credit NPR when you steal their ideas?

I believe I treat others the way I would like to be treated. this doesnt always happen, as i can be quite the smartass and can use a jaded barb at someone to get my point across. about the only human personality trait i can not stand is racism. if you could spend 1 day with someone, you can easily find 20 things to hate them for than just by their looks.

i do tend to get annoyed pretty easily but this doesnt mean i hate a person, i just have a short fuse when it comes to this, which is surprising considering i know how annoying i am.

Ultimately, I think to understand who I am you need to go about it like an oreo. Start from the middle and then eat the book ends. At age 20 I found myself agreeing with a man named Nietzche, his passion for ideas and the no excuses existentialist philosophy was one of the first belief systems I could get behind. Hold on, I got an erection, I don't have time to do this right now. I have business to attend to. Sorry ceebs

I follow three basic rules of life:

1. First and foremost: don't panic. Things will work out in some way.

2. Never give up, especially on yourself.

3. Don't be an asshole.

Treat others the way you would like to be treated. I am by no means perfect when it comes to following this "Golden Rule," but I sure strive to live by it everyday. And my life dramatically improved once I learned this valuable lesson. Thanks.
