Yeah, let's take the cost away from the employer/company and put it onto the shoulders of the indivual; will these health savings things be pre-tax deductions from a person's paycheck? Is the HMO system even going to want this? They likes to get paid,.... there will be alot less people putting into these accounts if its optional (similar to 401K and stock purchase) if their salary doesn't "permit it" relative to their living expences. What is the insentive to participate from an employee standpoint if one can just go to a county hospital and essentially choose to just not pay instead (seeing as, to my knowledge, unpaid medical bills do not hit against a person's credit rating). I don't see this reform "working" for the Health Care Industry, regardless of how much money it might save businesses (employers), unless the RX companies are going to pick up the monetary slack going into HMOs as they start loosing premiums and start ubsorbing additional debt by serving more people without coverage (assuming the overhaul moves forward as generalized in this report).
