this would have never happened if these dangerous weapons were kept off the streets and out of the kitchen.

Quote:
A 17-year-old schoolgirl has dramatically admitted stabbing 30 men to death - and says she hopes her parents are not upset.
The Brazilian teenager confessed to police, claiming she launched the serial killing spree "for money, revenge and to bring justice".

She has reportedly said she wanted to confess before turning 18, so she could escape being tried as an adult - and "to avoid upsetting my family".

so little content for such an explosive headline. what the hell is this about money, revenge, justice? especially money... 17 year old hitgirl?

Quote:
A Brazilian schoolgirl was held Monday night for knifing 30 men to death.

The 17-year-old stunned cops by owning up to a serial killing spree that started when she was 15.

She told detectives she wanted to confess before she turned 18 and could be tried as an adult.

The girl – who can't be named because she is still a minor – said she began targeting men in her home city of Sao Paulo, Brazil "for money, revenge and to bring justice."

She even smiled as she reeled off her list of victims - which is feared to make her the world's most prolific teenage serial killer. She calmly bragged to police: "I don't have enough courage to hold a gun — but I can hold a knife.

"I am confessing because I promised I would do so before becoming 18 — to avoid upsetting my family."

The teen told how she always used the same knife — butchering one man for throwing a glass of brandy in her face in a bar fight.

But police are still unclear about what drove her to keep on killing.

Sources said one theory is she was hired by gangland bosses as an assassin because she was so innocent-looking. The teenager's sensational confession came after she was arrested over a Sao Paulo street fight.

It shocked a country still reeling from the arrest of a TV crime show host for allegedly arranging killings to boost ratings.

the bold at the end; sounds like an idea for a movie set in the future. also, capitalism, etc.

When someone realizes the emergency room costs associated with people cooking dinner and doing the dishes.

She is quite smart, according to our shitty law, the worst that can happen with a non-adult criminal is 3 years in a reeducation center, no matter the crime.

She killed 30 men? Jesus christ. You would think at least 1 in 30 men could defend themselves from a 17 year old girl with a knife. I wonder if she slept with them all and then killed them in their sleep. Seems like the only plausible way to me.

It's pretty hard to defend yourself against someone rushing you with a knife. She probably had a few stabs in before they knew what was happening.

I understand that the maximum sentence for adults is 30 years. Is that correct?

It's the maximum sentence for a single crime, with parole in about 10 years, or the maximum time in prison if the person is setenced in multiple crimes whose condemnation exceeds 30 years by a large marge (like a 120 years sentence).

Outlaw knives all together? How do you cut up your food? You must just take the food into your hands, quickly look around to be sure no one is going to steal it from you and then tear it up with your teeth.

Only forks and spoons from now on. Mash it up in a blender.

I love the way the article is worded...it doesn't really say she confessed to murders that the police 'had been investigating'. I get the feeling the police were like 'what! there's 30 people dead?? shit!'.

:haha: i thought the same thing. these must have been some seriously fucking sly murders though. 30 people and not one witness who can identify you?

on the topic of the topic title, i think you get the point, but then you don't. i mean what you have is good, you just haven't connected the dots to similar issues.

on that topic,
http://www.clearsilat.com/edged-weapon- ... er-tactics

a quote from a study that page quotes

Quote:
“ research by numerous studies provide two clear messages why people will place themselves in bad tactical situations. The common phenomena of backing away under survival stress results from the visual systems deterioration of the peripheral field to attain more information regarding threat stimulus. Since the brain is demanding more information to deal with the threat, he officer will invariably retreat from the threat to widen the peripheral field. Secondly, the brains normal ability to process (analyze and evaluate) a wide range of information quickly is focused to specific items. Therefore, additional cues, which would normally be processed, are lost. This explains why people can not remember seeing or identifying specific facts which were relatively close to the threat.”

I feel like she might have gotten away with it if she never openned her mouth.
