Vice had this incredible documentary about North Korea, a journalist was allowed to take in a video camera and it is really the most unbelievable place:

To me, the ultimate message of that video was, "you have food, quit bitching." It brought up some interesting points I'll be sure to check out. But it also does itself a disservice by comparing our food situation to those in third world countries. "Genetically modified food is keeping people alive in Namibia, who are we to bitch?" The two topics aren't even in the same arena.

i've used food inc. in classes before, and student's really liked that. They also were big fans of why we fight, the corporation, and streetfight. Why we fight, while pretty good, is a little underwhelming, however.

so i downloaded the six episode pbs documentary "the ascent of money". should be good.

i've recently watched "the trap" and "the power of nightmares" by adam curtis. the trap i rate 3/5. and i've only watched two episodes of power of nightmares so far, but it's a 4/5.

century of the self was stellar. 5/5.

i'm afraid the last few months in the life of the thodoks account have been characterized by new-found afflictions for both photography and documentaries
