Nasa scientists braced for 'solar tsunami' to hit earth
The earth could be hit by a wave of violent space weather as early as Tuesday after a massive explosion on the sun, scientists have warned.

I wonder if variations in energy from the sun effect earth's climate in anyway?

I would imagine it depends on the severity of the weather the sun is emanating. The northern lights were suppose to have been spectacular up in the more northern circles of latitude. Seen as far south as Michigan.

The last time this happened was in 2003. The tsunami was 10 times more powerful than Sunday's tsunami.
Suo Yucheng, a researcher at the China Research Institute of Radio Wave Propagation says only the astronauts will be effected by the radiation and people using cell phones and satellite devices.

I suppose this means we can't blame AT&T.
