Alright, as everybody is painfully aware the level of debate has fallen off significantly rather quickly over the past few weeks. This is just to remind everyone of the expectations we have for this forum. This isn't GD. There are standards here; above all, act in a civil and respectful manner towards fellow posters regardless of their politics and opinions.

Last time we ran into this issue, David posted this and it still applies today:

This can serve as a formal warning to every single person who posts in N&D. There have been FAR too many personal attacks in the past couple of weeks, and they have brought the level of debate down, and damned near destroyed several threads. It's been a long time since we've had to do any actual moderating in this part of the board, and I was pretty proud of that, but it's gotten out of hand.

There are a few people in particular who have made many threads about their arguing opponents rather than the issues at hand, and I won't insult their intelligences by singling them out here. So if the next time you do something along those lines you get a week or two off from here, don't act all surprised and insult my intelligence.

To add a few things briefly, everybody is going to start with a clean slate from this moment forward; there will be no ex post facto bannings based on what a poster has done in the last couple of weeks. (Even though none of these "rules" are actually new, this is a courtesy I'm extending). If you feel that a poster is out of line, attacking other posters, trolling the forum to piss people off, etc, please PM me and I promise to look into the matter asap. I do not read every post of every thread in here, so rather than assume that I'm allowing a certain behavior to occur and then acting in a similar fashion, please act pro-actively. If two posters start going back and forth attacking one another they will both receive consequences; I will not be interested in who started it or whether one person feels their attacks were justified.

This is a good forum the vast majority of the time. I realize we're sort of coming out of the summer doldrums and not much has been happening, but that doesn't excuse the behavior of late. If we all just worry about ourselves I see no reason this forum won't continue to be an enjoyable place to pass time, debate some issues, and maybe even learn a thing or two.

Thanks all.
:peace:

Don't be gay, 4/5.
