Marx wasn't the only one pwned that day, a lot of thinkers were, going back til Plato.
But no one was pwned more hardly than Paul Samuelson, who wrote in 1988 that the Soviet Union was not only sustainable but that it would also surpass the USA in the long run.

Not Ayn Rand though!

with one of my "favorite" quotes all time, from her, talking about the jury who was deciding the fate of a brutal child-murderer
Quote:
Average, everyday, rather stupid looking citizens. Shabbily dressed, dried, worn looking little men. Fat, overdressed, very average, 'dignified' housewives. How can they decide the fate of that boy? Or anyone's fate?

lol @
Karl Marx is a very well-respected political theorist and philosopher. It's funny that you say "fuck him", even in jest, because the things he wrote bear little resemblance to the collectivist nations of the 20th century.
Also, lol @ Ayn Rand. A funny quote I found about her: "Ayn Rand has about the same relationship to serious philosophy as McDonalds does to good cooking."

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

Ayn Rand pretty much hated every philosopher, ever. Marx didn't necessarily write about how to make bureaucracies out of nations, Lenin did.

And yeah I agree with Buffalohed, this thread title is simply obnoxious

People really into Marx are pretty awful themselves, but generally speaking Marx is actually treated as another step along the ladder of western thinking and his ideas were just assimilated into mainstream philosophical discourse. Most Rand disciples are on another planet entirely, I feel. She really had nothing but cruel words for most of the great thinkers that came before her, and she never particularly demonstrated a great ability to understand them either.

Also cruel words and a lack of understanding of human nature.

Murray Rothbard was quite fed up with Rand antics, he even wrote a little play mocking Rand's inner circle.
