I really don't understand what he was attempting to accomplish in all of this. Even if he survived this whole thing, his "demonstration" would likely be all for naught.

Something REALLY doesn't sit right with me that this guy was shot and killed.
I agree.
ive seen several people say this and id like to know why. the others i have seen (friends on fb) have stated they want to know what actions he did that required him to be shot.
ummmm the fact he took hostages and pulled a gun on them seems justifiable to me.

Well, he wanted less humans polluting the Earth. One down.
I don't know what other info might come out, but right now, I'm closer to peeps. If you threaten hostages and make bomb threats, you might get shot. I'm sure there will be an investigation, but so far ...

Yeah I don't see what the big deal is. He had bombs strapped to him and held people hostage...he was shot when he pointed a gun at one of them. Good riddance.

No, clearly. You do what he did and put people's lives at risk, and you're putting your own life at risk too. And I have no idea what kind of threatening moves he made right before he was shot to justify police action.
It's just that throughout the whole thing, he was in communication with the negotiators, which usually is a good sign that the person doesn't mean harm to his hostages. Everything I've read and watched on TV while it was happening seemed to indicate that this was a guy who just wanted to get attention for his cause, not to hurt the people he was holding. I was shocked that it finished this way.
