Burning Qur'ans. That's the name of my city league softball team.

A man who won't declare Hamas, a group that has killed thousands of people over the years, a terrorist group, is supposed to be able to build a mosque two blocks from a place where thousands of Americans were killed in the name of Islam by extremists, and it's not even supposed to be viewed as inflammatory by the American populace. It's bigoted for American's to view the construction of this mosque as inflammatory. According to the self-appointed luminaries we're supposed to look at our constitution, view their first amendment rights as sacrosanct, and allow them to build the mosque without protest. That shows the world that we're tolerant. But when it comes to the first amendment right to burn a quran, we're supposed to ignore that right as being sacrosanct, and take the higher road and not burn it because it might be offensive to some people. It's a ridiculous double standard. If we're gonna be tolerant about them building a mosque two blocks from the worst tragedy in modern American history that was "in the name of Islam," then Muslims can also be tolerant about southern Christians burning a Quran, or Danes making cartoons about them. This isn't a fucking one way street here where Muslims should be able to do whatever the hell they want while the west "tolerates" their otherwise inflammatory actions while we control ourselves in the name of political correctness so as not to offend Muslims.
If the mosque was a matter of 1st amendment freedom of religion. Then this is a matter of first amendment freedom of speech. Both events are being viewed as inflammatory actions by the other, and neither really should.
