cheap pops..... Teachers blah blah blah. It's the same every year regardless of party.

Let's "revere" teachers....let's hold them in "high regard".... this an every year quote... from every fucking politician.

You know what teachers fucking need? Parental involvement (which they won't get) and SCHOOL SUPPLIES that they don't have to pay for. You would be amazed at how much easier the job is to do when you have the materials necessary to do it.... yet....every year its....respect. Yawn. What does that even mean? Cute License Plates? How about you eliminate the FDOE and give that money back to the states? Never is anything substantive talked about or done in regards to education.

I love how he talks about health care and how coverage shouldn't be denied and then 3 seconds later talks about not being hamstrung by debt.

Yeah so um... you're covered, between 20 and 30 and then we kill you after 30 so we don't go into too much debt. Painful cuts.....

yeah, but, I don't know. I always look forward to this speech because generally parts of the agenda for the year are made public.

I guess I would just love for a few of our politicians to lay out something substantive and or logical without concern for future electability of themselves or others.

Why does it always have to be grandiose ideas that have premises that can't rationally lead to the outcome that they espouse?

Obama generally has some pretty good things to say...and then he goes off the deep end.

I just don't know why we can't address the country like adults. Here's the issue, these are the reasons we have the issue...here's the group we assigned to study the issue and come up with potential solutions etc. Here are the potential problems with the particular solutions we came up with... etc.

He just told the country he was going to freeze congressional spending and veto any bill with "earmarks"

So I guess he's planning to appropriate a ton of cash outside of Congress and instead of calling them earmarks...they'll find another way...or just tag whole acts on to bills that have to pass.

I really doubt I'll end up getting the initiative to watch it. To build off theplatypus in tinychat, I'm idealizing my future self.

Don't be so sensitive. Grandpa Simpson did not right the Declaration of Independence either.
