Yes, that's true. They usually don't fit the 33 year old nigerian immigrant maid/raped profile though.

Really? Haven't we seen powerful men do stupid thing after stupid thing? I don't find this so hard to believe at all.

Oh, for sure but for almost every case of a powerful man doing a stupid thing, there's been a case of a woman using sex to bribe/blackmail/whatever.

Shrug.

stats?

Heh.

I can semi see the conspiracy side of things though. I don't think it would be that hard to threaten/payoff someone in a similar position to this woman. Regardless, no one will ever really know what happened in that room.

Interesting about the Egyptian banking dude getting pulled up on a similar charge for a similar incident only a short time later. When it rapes, it pours?

We might not have a definitive idea what happened there but I think if there is ever a trial and all the evidence comes out we should be able to make an educated guess, no? Not that an educated guess is what should be the threshold for jail time by any means.

Besides, I already told you he was guilty. Not sure why we still debating this.

Have you ever gone through the jury process and been selected, Matt?

My guess is not.

Oh, I have no faith in our judicial system. He very well could be innocent even if found guilty and vica/versa. Yes, I've gone through Jury duty but I've never served on a Jury.

I fail to see how that is relevant? He has a strong opinion as an observer to a high profile case. That doesn't mean he couldn't set aside opinion in the light of facts and determining if evidence is strong enough to convict an alleged criminal.

Hey, let's keep the personal attacks to a minimum ok truther?

;)

And no, I don't think just because someone is brought to trial it means they're guilty. I just happen to think DSK is guilty.

Yah, I have to agree here. I'm not sure why it's so horrible that I have formed an opinion that has absolutely no bearing on whether or not DSK is brought to trial or convicted. I am merely offering my opinion. If I was a juror on his trial of course I would have an open mind and take the evidence as it's presented. Why wouldn't I? Plus, I'm always on the side of the rich banker - why would I trust a poor maid?

If only DSK showed your apprehension.

He just can't resist the hotness of a 33 year old nigerian immigrant throwing herself on his thrusting cock at 1 PM in the afternoon on a school day during her glamorous shift of cleaning toilets and semen stained carpets.

I mean, he's a powerful man after all.

There is almost no chance you would be selected in this case, even if you lived there and were part of the jury pool.

Not that it matters at all.

At any rate, Beth spelled out my thoughts more eloquently than I could have, leaving me not much else to add.

I wouldn't be selected because I've been reading about the case from day 1 and have been tainted by the leaks in the press. Besides that, I fail to see why I wouldn't make a decent juror and I resent the notion that you think I couldn't be objective. I can see reasons why both the prosecution and the defense would not want me on the case. The prosecution might think I would be sympathetic to the rich banker, the defense might think I was tainted due to all the reading I've done on DSK's background and the leaks that might not end up being admissible in court.

Heh. I think consensual or not, he did something really stupid but given his reported history, it's not unexpected.

Fact is, News and Debate would be pretty pointless if the whole forum was "Hey guys, hold your opinions until this plays out." Sharing opinions about a high profile case on a discussion board is kinda the point.
