Pro gay marriage, or anti, I don't really care. However, I think it's absolutely stupid for a business to make such a polarizing stance. If the CEO doesn't support gays, fine, but why take a public stance?

Good for him, or bad move? What say you?

I know, right? I played softball last night and there is a chick-fil-a very close to the park, I wanted a spicy chicken sandwich so bad, but after I read some articles yesterday about their stance, I decided I'm not going there anymore. Mainly b/c I think the CEO is a massive douche bag. I also despise organized religion, but their pro-Jesus stuff never really bothered me. However, the gay thing, and the ultra right wing (southern baptist) mentality they have is now enough for me to not eat there anymore.

We now have to vet every single business that we frequent to be assured that their politics agrees with ours? Yikes.

I heard Carl's Jr. is owned by Birchers. Is that a no go as well?

Is anyone actually surprised by this? It's a business that refuses to open on sunday for religious reasons. I really didn't think that they were going to be pro tolerance when it comes to homosexual lifestyles.

although there are none near me, and on the off chance I ever have the chance to eat in one I will have forgotten. But if I pass by one tomorrow I'm certainly not eating there.

Oh, I'm not surprised, but I just think it's in incredibly bad taste to make a public stance about it. They already lose 52 days of the year in business due to their Sunday policy, now they are making public comments about gay marriage. It's a stupid business policy, polarizes a lot of people, and I'm sure in some of their 1,500 some odd stores, they have a few gay people working there.

Another thing this douche bag said was something along the lines that "we're they type of people who stay married to our first wives". Well fuck you pal, now you just insulted all the people who have gone through a divorce (which isn't that about half of everyone who gets married?). It was just stupid comments all around, and I'm done with this, southern baptist, my god is right / yours is wrong, Michelle Bachman loving fuck face.

Exactly. I honestly have no idea what 99% of the businesses I support in one way or the other stand politically. And I'm fine with it, that's how it should be. Chick-Fil-A went public on a stance, and I happen to think it's incredibly stupid of them, and personally, I don't view it as political as much as I do bigotry.

I thought they were asked specifically about the issue. I wouldn't call it a policy, as I doubt that Chik-Fil-A has the actual right to legally marry anybody, regardless of sexual orientation. The owner has an opinion that you may or may not agree with. But I would have assumed that was the opinion without them being asked... and on some level I give them credit for being open about an unpopular opinion, even if I personally disagree with it.
