Really in a thread titled "Chick-Fil-A supports anti gay marriage" you're going to call me out for treating the entity like it is an individual, when that's really what the whole thread is?

Oh man, I didn't even think about that when I started this thread. Oops. I guess I should have titled it something like "Chick Fil-A's CEO Publicly Supports Anti-Gay Marriage". I don't know, I'm not a writer, and headlines to grab people's attention aren't really my thing. Plus work is insane, so I come here and leave pretty quickly, often not thinking too much about what I post, or editing what I write.

There's nothing incorrect about your wording, I'm not sure what Rebar's point was.

I fully support gay marriage, but all this thread has done is make me want to try their chicken. I've never even seen one of these restaurants.

I ain't gonna lie, it's tasty chicken. It is fast food, but it's a cut above Wendy's, BK, and McDonalds. I often say it's the 5 Guys of chicken sandwiches.

They do a lot of excellent things as a business, including having enough registers open and having really good hot tasty food. As fast food restaraunts go it's top notch.

I could care less what they believe religiously just like anyone else. I'm all for religious freedom and opinions therein. It doesn't bother me that they close Sunday so that everyone at Chick Fil A can spend time with thier familes.

As far as the government is concerned though, Gay people need to have the same rights as strait people. They currently don't have the same rights. Churches can create all the bylaws they want. I don't care about that. No one should tell Baptists or Catholics or anyone what they should support if they don't feel it fits into thier values. I care about people having the same access to insurance, and hospitals and the like. A justice of the peace is not an actor of a particular religion. We have no national religion. Gay people need to have the same rights as everyone else.

Me eating at Chick Fil A is not a political statement. I just like the chicken.

Dammit guys, is it really that hard? Someone in a major organization came out against gay marriage (NOT SMART) and now it is hurting their company. I just thought the phrase "If Chick-fil-A were smart" was funny in the context of this thread.

this is definitely not the right thread in which to ask this question: do you ever wonder what other foods can/should be waffled?

It's a long thread, and it's probably quite lame.

Wow, I'm surprised how big of a story this has become.
I enjoy my Chick Fil A sandwich or biscuit 2-3 times a month knowing full well it's owned by an extremely conservative & religious family. Likewise I enjoyed Braves baseball when they were owned by one of the biggest liberals in the country. Is it any different than being a fan of particular actor or musician whose political stances are different than yours?
It may not have been smart for a businessman to publicly express his opinion on a divisive issue but it's still just an opinion. If it was an elected official it would be different but I'm not to get riled up by a private individual (or company for that matter) expressing an opinion.

I get what your saying, but the things he said irked me. Having said that, it's not like I'm gonna do anything about it, other than not eat there, and whine about it here.

I think people are missing the point. It's not that Chick-fil-a is anti-gay or Christian or have different viewpoints.

It's that they are using money, their profits, to donate to anti-gay organizations AND that they said they would fire employees that “have been sinful or done something harmful to their family members.”

I had no idea that my money would go to organizations that I vehemently oppose when I eat a chicken sandwich. That is the problem. You can have all the crazy beliefs you want. If it's just a business and you're just trying to make money, fine, be crazy in your beliefs. But when you donate to hateful organizations and will fire your employees for being "sinful," then I won't let my money be a part of that - you have now gone from being just a business to a political organization. I refuse to be a part of that.

Like it or not, if you eat at Chick-fil-a, just know that you are supporting anti-gay organizations. That's a fact. If you're fine with that, enjoy their chicken. I'm not OK with that.
