I hope you're not serious, Skitch. Thodoks isn't old enough to be POTUS, so that would just be a wasted vote.

Have you read what George Carlin had to say about libertarianism?

I have, and there is much truth in what he says.

Also, I don't identify with any political party.

I try really hard - not always successfully - to just see things for what they are, and to try to understand how the world works. The majority of my political opinions are born out of a desire to shape policy to accord with how the world actually works, not how I or anyone else might like it to work. I just don't care under which contemporary political umbrella such notions fall. I've found that the best way to condition myself against things like confirmation bias is to ask, "What evidence would I accept on that would make me change my mind on issue X?" It's a pretty effective way of thinking about things dispassionately (or at least, more dispassionately than the median voter might think about things). I used to consider myself a libertarian until I realized I was just indulging in ideological tribalism, which isn't any better than the kind of political tribalism on display today. Really, it's no way to go through life.

I'm just trying to figure it all out, and I regard emotional and cognitive investment in particular ideologies - regardless of whether they're political, social, cultural, or ideological - to inhibit an intellectually honest pursuit of policies that are consistent with the fundamentals of human behavior and choice.

Also, most self-identified libertarians are kind of insufferable.

I hate identifying with libertarians because I feel this way.
