Jay Cutler since that last post.

Games: 8
Completion %: 60.95
TD's: 16
Int: 7
Passer Rating: 94.48

In his first 6 games, he was sacked 27 times, in his last 8 games, only 19.

Really happy with him this year despite a new system, subpar receivers, and a terrible OL.

Jay Cutler trade revisited.

Bears receive :

Denver receive :

Kyle Orton: Benched this year for Tim Tebow

64th pick in 2009 – TE Richard Quinn (1 game played in two seasons)
132nd pick in 2009 – T Seth Olsen (Cut by Broncos before 2010 season; currently on Vikings practice squad)

Surely Tebow's numbers are a little better than that.

Nobody anticipated Lloyd having the season that he had, which didn't give Thomas and Decker many balls to catch. Not to mention that Thomas was hurt for most of the season.

Quinn wasn't going to get much time starting anyway with Graham already there in place. He's also played in way more than one game. It's also tricky including Olsen in the deal when that pick is more closely tied to a trade with the Steelers.

Edge to the Bears for now, but still, Cutler is not going to win a championship. So, I'm not sure what the upside is at the end of the day.

Cutler has obviously got better in the second half of the season once Martz adjusted the play calling, but he still isn't as consistent or as good as he can be. That being said I am completely confident that he is good enough to lead this team to the Super Bowl, and be even better next year if he has another off-season to work with Martz and Martz sticks to 50/50 run-pass ratio, or the Bears get a massive upgrade on the o-line.
Personally I could care less about who "won" the trade. In all reality the Bears probably wouldn't be in the position they are if Orton was the qb instead of Cutler, but that doesnt mean the Broncos didn't get good players out of the deal.

you realize Orton's numbers over 2 seasons with Denver are just about universally better than Cutler's numbers in 2 season with Chicago, right? The only thing Cutler has him on is TD passes

He was injured and the Broncos were so far out of it they decided to give Tebow some time. I think if the Broncos were still in it Orton would have played.

that's what i thought.

seems like pnjguy really wants us to believe that chicago did the right thing... personally, i think Forte & Peppers were their wisest moves, but what do i know?

Don't get me wrong, Cutler is an enormous talent who can really be a special player. He just has so many head scratching moments, particularly in late game situations, it's ridiculous.

What does drafting Forter have to do with trading for Cutler?

nothing other that its a roster move that certainly benefited the team... which is the overall topic of this conversation.
