Will never forget him. He was a member of some of the best Braves teams to watch ever.

Brandon Beachy named 5th starter. Mike Minor optioned to AAA. Let's get this season going already!

this decision surprised me. i know beachy had the better spring, but figured minor had the edge because he's a lefty.

i hope this rotation can log a lot of innings, because i'm a little nervous about the bridge to kimbrel/venters. i'm not concerned about moylan or EOF, but the newbies linebrink and sherrill seem risky. they're each coming off of rough years.

im kinda hoping that Kimbrel can claim the full time closer role because Venters would be a lot more reliable then some of the other bull pen choices to get to Kimbrel. but who knows, maybe the other guys will step up and all will be fine.

im just ready for the season to start

Rain's in the DC forecast for tomorrow so it'll probably be Friday when the season starts. That off day after the opener worked out this time; normally it's annoying.
Either way I'm excited about the team this year. Anyone who thinks the Phillies are going to coast their way to the division hasn't been paying attention.

What do you know, they got the game in afterall. A nice 2-0 win in a cold drizzle to start the season. With the day off tomorrow and then three more afternoon games it's going to be a few more days before the season feels like it's really started.

The ball Heyward hit out was up in his eyes..a lefty who can hit high mistakes hard spells danger to NL pitching staffs.

not a bad way to start the season, they won 2-0 Heyward homered, Lowe pitched pretty good, Venters did a great job setting up Kimbrel, who struck out 2 and got the save.

i am hoping to see a good bit more runs scored this season, so that could be better, but its the first game so we will see.

i bet he took every possible precaution to ensure he could compete in the sexual market. but in matrimony, cost/benefit analyses likely forecast negative returns on tip frosting.

also, jason heyward is christ.

Tough game today

not a lot of good stuff to talk about, though Uggla went deep, Gonzales had a great game hitting, Chipper is doing much better then i expected, and Freeman had some good hits.

i didnt get to see it on TV so im not really sure, but im wondering if the short delay before the game caused some of Hanson's problems, or if it was just one of those days where the other team had his number.

I'm really concerned about Jurrjen's health. He's the key, in my opinion, to the Braves staying competitive in the NL East.

For the time being, looks they'll use a 4 man rotation. Derek Lowe is scheduled to start in the 5th game of the season. Look for Mike Minor to come up and make some starts. I sure hope they're not considering Kawakami.
