Is it worth it to go and see Mayweather live in September? I feel like these Mayweather and Pacquiao fights are all bullshit. They just put them against people who are 5-1 underdogs. Why bother? I might be able to get comped tickets but I don't want to go unless it really has a chance at being a fight. Thoughts?

I thoroughly enjoy watching Floyd outclass anyone and everyone, but if you're looking for competitive action, look elsewhere. Floyd-Ortiz may be interesting for 3 to 5 rounds, which is what it may take Floyd to figure Ortiz out. Ortiz is young and strong, but he's inexperienced and not extraordinary by any means. He's gonna get schooled.
Then again, you're almost guaranteed to have a blast if you go. The place is going to be packed, what with Ortiz's Mexican-American background, and Floyd always bringing in a bunch of celebrities. I had a great time at Floyd-Mosley last year even though Floyd dominated for 10 rounds out of 12. If you're getting comped good seats, you should go.
The seats should be good but I mean not great. I guess I'll see what they can do but I feel like even if it's comped, using the goodwill on a dumb fight that will be one sided is pretty...dumb.
I've seen some great fights when I was growing up in Vegas including Bowe/Holyfield and a Foreman fight so I know what it's like to see a championship fight and it was awesome. Not sure I'd appreciate it as much today without it being an even match.

I think Ortiz has a real shot in this fight, if he fights as relentlessly as he did against Berto and can stay close inside. He has the power to hurt Mayweather. If he tries to stay back and have a technical fight and outbox Floyd of course he will get schooled. He he can turn it into a brawl I really think he has a chance. I am going to throw a couple bucks on Ortiz. This is the first opponent in years that I think has a legitimate chance.
As for the other fights coming up. Diego Magdaleno if fighting on the 15th, if you haven't seen him try to check it out. I have been following him for a couple years and I think he is going to be a big time fighter.
I can't stand Khan, and I think he is the most overrated big name fighter (to people who know boxing) out there. I cannot wait for him to be exposed again. I think Judah puts him out within 6 rounds.
Cotto-Margarito will probably be a good fight. I don't like either, but will probably root for Margarito because of the ass kicking he took against Manny.
Sounds like perhaps Chavez Jr vs Sergio Martinez, interesting fight but I think Martinez would really hurt him.

I'd go if the seats were free. I'd never pay to watch Ortiz because he literally quit in a match a couple years ago. Erik Morales is supposed to be on the undercard, at least you know one fight will be entertaining. I think Ortiz could give Mayweather a real test for the first 4-5 rounds, but after that Mayweather should take over the fight.
I can't believe Lara lost, that was terrible. I guess they gave Williams some credit for the 800 punches that didn't connect.
Both Mayweather and Pacman are 8-1 favorites. I doubt I will go.
Save your money for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight which is probably going to happen next May. I actually believe Roach when he says he thinks this Ortiz fight is a warm up for a fight with Manny. It fits Mayweather's MO. Manny will be coming off a fight that should be a war, and will probably take a good amount of punishment. That's the perfect time for Floyd to decide he wants to fight.

I've already stated that if Mayweather-Pacquaio ever happens in Vegas I'm there. I do think that will be the most expensive sporting event in history though. Will cost $1000 to sit in the last row, if not more.
Not sure it ever happens though. If you're Mayweather, why bother? He gets $20-$50 million for fighting weak opponents. Stay undefeated, make 10s of millions, rinse, repeat.

Agree, leopard print and all. I worked ringside at this fight last night and was impressed Antillon lasted into the third round. Rios beat the shit out of the dude in the first round. Bam Bam is an appropriate nickname.
i saw an article saying that the judges from the Williams fight got suspended.
i'm not too fond of Brandon Rios...I think he's a douchebag.
Mercito Gesta is the one to watch. he looks pretty damn good for being 23 years old but I know he still needs better opponents to really prove his worth.
i'll be watching Marquez Saturday to see if he has any chance. He better outclass this guy within three to five rounds to give his fight with pac a bit of a boost.
