Just because Chicago's trading partner blew it doesn't mean draft picks aren't still the best way to build a team.
Right, but our argument was mostly on 1st rounders value and how their value (to me) is overrated since there is a high failure rate and oversized contracts for unproven talent - esp compared to proven players.

Oversized contracts are no longer an issue and this last draft had a ton of first round hits, but I see your point. I still think the price was too high, personally. But at least you didn't trade for Kevin Kolb.

you've posted the phrase twice now and i need to know:
how are you determining "1st rounder failure rate?"
if we're simply looking for players that make NFL rosters, the success rate of the 1st round is w/o question the best. 1st Round "Busts" might be more memorable, given the nature of the draft and the $ previously thrown at these guys, but that's no way to determine success/failure.

Yeah, actually, in most drafts, first-round picks don't have high failure rates. They might not be the superstars the teams expected, but an overwhelming majority are everyday players in the NFL.

Holy shit, he's falling apart at the seems. I always sympathized with him after seeing Phillip Rivers act like a douche years back during a game, but Cutler totally seems like a frustrated prick right about now.

He definitely made mistakes, but his line and WR's weren't doing him any favors. He really needs an attitude adjustment though, clearly. Maybe some counseling sessions with Mickey would help.

I passively watched the game last night while doing other things, but every time I seemed to turn my head to the television, Cutler was fucking something up.

There are few things more gratifying than watching Jay Cutler fail.
Watching Brandon Marshall drop easy TD passes for a team other than Miami being one of them.
