CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina forward Rashad McCants will miss Tuesday's game at North Carolina State with an intestinal disorder.

McCants has felt ill since the Feb. 13 game at Connecticut and missed much of the second half of Saturday's home game against Clemson with an upset stomach.

In a release, Carolina basketball trainer Marc Davis said doctors didn't know when McCants would return to the lineup.

The 6-foot-4 junior from Asheville is the Tar Heels' second-leading scorer, averaging 15.8 points a game. He has made a team-high 50 3-pointers and is shooting 49.1 percent from the floor.

McCants is third in the Atlantic Coast Conference in field goal percentage and 10th in scoring. He was the leading vote-getter on the 2004 All-ACC team.

any doctors in the house?... an intestinal disorder?... why do i fear this could be something awful?

*waits for a dookie (no pun intended), perhaps peeps, to make a smartass remark*

I'm no doctor, but that could be a dozen different things. You'll have to wait and see if they release more information; they might still be trying to figure it out. From my own personal experience with abdominal "issues", I'm thinking, if its bad enough for him to miss games, it can't be good.

not so fast... sometimes this team is at its best when mccants is on the bench... one thing it could mean is more playing time for marvin the magnificent, and he is looking like the best player on the team, if not in the country... obviously, the heels need rashad, no doubt, but i wouldnt count them out if rashad doesnt play... besides, raymond has the best 3pt percentage in the acc this year, and it would mean more shots for him... i still think they could/will make the final four, but it just wont be as easy... besides, mccants hasnt been playing well for a while now (minus his last outing)

dont want to get ahead of ourselves, but it would probably make me cry if he cant continue... though it might force him to come back in '05-'06, so it woudlnt be the worst thing in the world, but damn close

4, maybe 5 first round picks doesnt equate to relying on one player... problem is melvin scott couldnt throw the ball in the fucking ocean this year, and he will probably get the start tonight in rashad's absence

by the way, i really cant stand dicky v... if he's doing an illini game then dee brown is the fastest man in basketball in the ncaa.. .if he's doing a carolina game, then it's felton...
