I recently heard that Joe Torre was one of two major league managers to have had at least 1,500 hits as a player and at least 1,500 wins as a manager.

If this is true, could you please tell me who was the other man to do this?

Hall of Famer Fred Clarke won 1,602 games while managing Louisville (1897-1899) and Pittsburgh (1900-1915) in the National League, and collected 2,675 hits while playing the outfield for those two teams from 1894 to 1915.

Through May 26 of this year, Torre had 1,608 wins as a manager with the Mets (1977-1981), Braves (1982-1984), Cardinals (1990-1995) and Yankees (1996-present). As a player with the Braves, Cardinals and Mets (1960-1977), Torre tallied 2,342 hits during his career.
