Ok guys and girls...I'm in a weekly pool, set up by 2 people that shall remain nameless. They were once college football guru's, and had a show on local TV (around me). Anyway, each week, there are 10 college and 5 pro games. They find the best games of the week, and assign point spreads to each game. They compare the lines from Vegas, Sheriden's line's, etc...and then discuss it, and come up with their OWN lines...and then assign them to the games. Each week, there are payouts of 50-40-30, and there are running standings for the year...At the end of the Football season, they award the top 3 finishers, 100-85-75 respectively. I won the whole thing last year, and carried away some nice loot ;)

Anyway, I'm currently involved this year again, and I'm 6 games out of 1st place overall. I wanted to get some College/Pro Football fans' opinions and selections on some of the games that we have on our ticket each and every week. I will be posting those games here, with the lines that they have assigned to the game. And hopefully, with your feedback, I can see a different light...and pick accordingly.

Lets start with the first game on my slate for Saturday 10/23/04

Rutgers +4.5 at Pitt

*****Those of you who don't understand point spreads...its simple...at the end of the game...add the points given...to the teams total, if they end up with more points...they win. Example: Rutgers loses 28-30 to Pitt...But adding 4.5 points to their total, gives them 32.5 to Pitt's 30. Therefore, Rutgers would be the winner. 1/2 points are given to avoid ties.

Opinions?

Because your humour makes me laugh and pass the day away at work I will offer this tip to you.

I like Pitt for these reasons:
1. I have attended a Pitt game and the way their stadium is in the rock face kicks ass.
2. Tony Dosett attended Pitt and he was one of the best running backs to ever grace a playing field.
3. Pitt offers friendly (semi-loose) women which counts because the last time I was in the city of Rutgers I couldn't get laid.
4. Pitt have the colours of Blue/Gold which gels with one of your favourite college teams.
5. They have to do well to keep the fans stoked for the Steelers who are having an incedible season.
6. A touch-down is more then 4.5 points.

Rutgers lost at home by 11 to New Hampshire, a Div. II school . . . enough said.

Yeah, Rutgers beat Michigan State and then lost to New Hampshire. Go figure. Maybe the win over MSU was a fluke.

Balki, it's a tough call, Rutgers is an up-and-coming team and they feel like they've really got something to prove. And Pitt isn't that good this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Rutgers pulled off an upset this week.

Rutgers isn't a city. I'm pretty surprised you couldn't get laid in New Brunswick. Anyway next time try French St. It might cost you $10 but you can blow job for sure there. :P

That's a tough game to pick. They both really suck. That's definitely one game that i won't bet on this weekend. I won't even bother giving you my pick cause it would be a complete guess

That was the irony behind that. Well pretty much all the reasons.
