ok so i'm in the fenway area today watching the game at the baseball tavern. and after the game in walks, mark malaska, lenny dinardo, and abe alvarez. Did i recognize them right off??? no...... did i recognize their big rings?????? yes. So my brother asks to touch abe's ring, so he does, so do i. We start talking a while (1 minute.... seemed like 10) and my brother asks to try the ring on. After about 20 seconds of begging he takes it off his finger and let him try it on, right after i slip it on for 10 seconds. never have i wished i had a camera phone...... but oh well. it may have been one of the greatest moments ever today. we shot the shit for 5 minutes or so and then they moved on, either way i wore a ring....

Awesome dude. I got to wear a Super Bowl ring once. Man, those guys have big hands
Did you ever read that Rick Reiley piece in SI a few weeks back about the Super Bowl rings and how the players all hate how huge and gaudy they are? It was a great read

Me too, I met David Givens last summer and he let me try his ring on. It fit perfectly, I was kinda surprised that it fit my hand so perfectly..... I figured that a wide reciever would have bigger hands, allthough he really isn't that big of a guy.

Tony Siragusa let us check the ring out but wouldnt let anyone touch it. It was so big I think I could put 2 fingers in it.
His wife is a small little hottie too, they were really nice but I felt bad because nobody bothered them until we went up and drunkingly yelled "gooose!, Lets see the ring!" He was playing craps in AC, we spotted him from a roulette table. His wife played along with us.

I tried on a Super Bowl ring, a 49er from one of the 80's teams that works at my company now, AND, I drank cheap champagne out of the Stanley Cup in 1994.
I met Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at a wedding a couple of years ago. He is my good friend's Godfather. (Apparently, my friend's dad grew up with Kareem). Anyway...he is one big dude. Super hot wife/girlfriend, too.

That tops touching/wearing any championship ring. I'm jealous.
I completely agree.
there's dozens of rings every year for every sport.......but there's only one cup.

The Cup was so beat up at the time that you could actually pull the top right off of it. I worked in a catering hall/country club and one of the events was a bar mitzvah. Apparently the kid's family knew Neil Smith, who was a guest, and he brought the Cup to this kids party. We were 'gaurding' it in the back storage room before they brought it out, so we figured, fuck it, lets do it quick before we lose the chance. Cheap ass champagne never tasted so good...
Big Deal.
I see no value in a trophy you didn't actually earn.
I would never hold aloft the FA Cup or the World Heavyweight Title belt.
These are symbols and a tokens of great sporting achivement, but they're not your achivement. I don't want someone elses award.
Go earn your own prize.
