Declined to play in the World Match Play Championship, which pays more to the winner than any tournament on tour.

I cannot believe this, I think these guys should be playing in this tournament. You would think Tiger would get excited about this event, considering his dominance in match play as an Amateur. I also think they should add a few match play events on the PGA Tour.

Tiger is weird this year. He left the PGA Championships while he was still in it...

This might have something to do with it.

Golf season is now longer than baseball. Let these guys have a life and stop adding all these bullshit tournaments. And what's the point of having one if Tiger isn't playing it. The networks lose half their audience if Tiger isn't playing. I bet the PGA would offer Tiger like 200 million cash to come back if he said he was retiring. They need another "personality" besides Phil(who i don't find much appealing anyway).

I agree with this, but thats about it.

and Tiger only plays in about 23 tournaments a year, but Vijay plays in well over 30 a year. But Match Play is a different animal, and it is the biggest payday for the winner.

i don't think these guys need to worry about the money. The prestige mustn't be there for them

I know they don't need the money, but the size of the prize indicates that their is a high amount of prestige that goes with being the Champion of this event.

it's a wasted event for them. Golf, Much like Hockey, Baseball, and Basketball has far too long of a season.

Couldn't agree more, with the addition of Nascar.

Tiger doesn't play to win the cash prizes. That's pocket change compared to his endorsements and appearance fees for simply just playing in tournaments that pay appearance fees.

Your right, he only plays to win, and you would think he would want to play in the only Match Play event. That is all I am saying, he has played every year in the past.
