After losing to Phoenix tonight 125-99 (ouch) the Lakers are out of the playoff race. Kobe didn't even play, he had a bruised shin. If he wants to be the next MJ, maybe he should try his hand at baseball.

That whole talk about him being the next MJ was over years ago. It's obvious after watching him for the past few seasons that he is not a team player like Jordan was. i know that there are going to be people that say that jordan wasn't a team player at the beginning of his career either. but it has been a few years and kobe still hasn't shown that much potential. and that would be understandable since he has acheived success without being that much of a team player, while jordan had to be a team player in order to get that success. of course jordan didn't have shaq, so.

still, i think i speak for most people when i say, hahaha fuck you kobe.

oh, and one last thing, go clippers!

I havent heard a Kobe/MJ comparison since this guy was a junior in high school...

There are talks of another blockbuster trade in LA again because now Kobe needs another "star" to help out. Jason Kidd has really shown a lot of intrest in going to LA, but who knows now with Carter there. LA will be a mess for a while.

if they don't get a good coach and/or another good player in there to help him he will probably leave sometime soon.

If he does, there is no point in having a draft.

They're always looking for the next Jordan. There was Kobe, T-Mac, Vince Carter, and now Lebron. In a couple of years, they'll have someone else pegged with "The Next Jordan" title.

There's absolutely no excuse for getting as little as they did for the most dominant player in the game.

Did you know this is only the 4th time since they moved to LA that they missed the playoffs? Impressive.

Still though.. Enjoy watching Shaq in the Finals this June Kobe!

you certainly are backpeddling from your initial stance of the team didnt need shaq when it was first announced, arent ya ;)

make no mistake, shaq is by far the most dominant of this generation and it could be argued of any generation, but the players the lakers got back are very decent with the exception of grant.

caron butler and odom both have bright futures ahead of them stat wise, especially caron, but the LA Braintrust were fucked from the get go, they caved to one of their star players demands. if anyone doesnt think kobe said, either you trade shaq or im signing elsewhere, is naive

as far as the mike comparrisons, mike took 6 years to get his first trophy, kobe did it in 5, shaq was with kobe and at the time, jordan had pippen (who was probably the second best in the league at the time). to say jordon was a team player is insane. he basically told anyone if you passed the ball to bill cartwright that you would be traded. So please jimbo, get off jordans jock, he wasnt exactly the greatest team player in the world, atleast until phil took power and showed him the benefits of trusting your team, ie paxson, kerr etc.., and the same could be said for kobe, or else they wouldnt have won 3 titles in a row. and likewise, mike didnt do to much for the wizards other than to sell tickets, much like kobe is now

now having said that, there will never be another mike, harold minor, richard dumas, tmac, vc, grant hill, kobe, bron and all others are comapred to jordon, but in terms of trying to elevate the league they way that the doctor, magic, bird, then mike did. all of those guys have put up mad points, but they have yet to elevate the league in the same proportion that mike did from erv and larry

Jordan made his teammates better in alot more ways than assists. he never took a day off. he practiced just as hard as he played. he never even went on cruise control during a game....THOSE things will make your teammates better. i read an interview with Steve Kerr where he said Jordan had a habit of making all the drills in practice a high stakes contest.

but yea Kobe is not going to come close to being the next Jordan. Jordan would have found a way to beat that version of the Pistons in last years final. he wouldnt have been held to 11 points in game 3.

how funny is it, Kobe, the proverbial buster, is sitting behind a seat that says "I love this game"

no playoffs for the first time in 10 years......the Heat could win it all.....

ha ha. enjoy the bed you made Kobe.

They must be railing Kubcheck today in LA.

Kobe is getting what he deserves, he honestly thought that they would be a contender even if they got rid of Shaq. He thinks he was the key to those titles and this season was a huge slap in the face, and a dose of reality for him.

I think he showed this year that he is just another Vince Carter or T-MAC, a very talented player who simply does not know how to play team ball or lead a team to much.

He's no Jordan, not even in the same ballpark. This season showed exactly why the Lakers won those titles and proved all the "Kobe is the man on the Lakers" people wrong.

The Lakers made a huge mistake and they are paying for it. Good.

yeah peeps im singing a "different tune now", i have season tickets and this has been the worst year of basketball, no matter how bad the lakers played this season i never heard any boos directed at kobe execpt against against the pistons because their were a ton of their fans at the staples center. i am eager to see what kupchat and buss have in plans for this team. a couple of weeks ago the lakers had a open house for all the season ticket holders, free food, drinks, lakers merchandise. anyway after kupchak was introduced to crowd i heard some of the loudest booing i heard all season, i felt kinda bad for guy  i will admit i wish shaq was still w/ the lakers but i do not want him to win a title

If you read my initial post, I admitted that Jordan was not a team player to begin with and, yes, it wasn't until Phil showed up that he started being more of a team player.

While Pippen was an amazing player he wasn't as dominate as Shaq was/is so it's obvious how Kobe got that first title in a shorter amount of time than jordan.
