Let me start.
Ever since the offseason I have been boycotting the Phillies. I mean, I am not going to any games this year or buying any merchandise until either Ed Wade (the GM) is fired (8 years, no playoffs) or they prove me wrong by getting to 10 games over .500.
Anyway, they refuse to play Chase Utley every day and it is driving me fucking nuts. At the end of last season they say their prospects are untouchable (Ryan Howard, Utley and Gavin Floyd) yet they will not give any of these players a shot. They said in the offseason that Utley will be their starting second baseman. They then offer Polanco Arbitration because they (stupidly) thought he would sign elsewhere and they would get draft picks. He gets accepts and then complains that he should play every day when they announce that Utley will start and Polanco will be a utility player.
Utley is an AllStar in the making and they decide to platoon him with Polanco. Meanwhile we are playing arguably the worst 3B in the league, can't hit and can't field. Polanco did a great job at third last year when Bell was hurt. Throw him there, let Utley play and sit Bell and his Larry Bird back on the bench.
....on top of all this, they are talking about sending Floyd down once Padilla is healthy. I really can't take this anymore.

If the effin Braves don't make it past the first round, again, this season I'm gonna puke.

they need to have howard play somewhere. he's an amazing hitter.
I heard assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr. on the radio 2 weeks ago and he was asked about Howard.
Q. "Will he play at all this year"
A. "Not likely unless Thome is Injured"
Q. "Why not have him on the team for late inning situations and when Thome needs a rest?"
A. "We want him to get more at bats at triple A"
Q. "Why would you keep him around when you can trade him for a quality pitcher or help elsewhere in the lineup?"
A. "We like to have him around as insurance incase Thome gets injured"
Q. "What is the chance that he is traded somewhere before the trade deadline?"
A. "zero"
Q. "Thome has 4 years left on his deal, isn't a little unfair to this kid to have him stuck behind someone like that with no intentions of trading him?"
A. "we don't think so"
Howard's agent has since asked for a trade, which the Phillies refused.
Lets face it here, he is not going to play for 4 years but we won't trade him? He is probably the best hitting prospect in baseball and they are letting him rot away in AAA ball. I mean, the guy set the minor league record for homers last year. Another genius move.

They should trade him for a 3B. Thome is going nowhere and Howard can't play the outfield.
id hate to see him go but this seems like the best option.
and im w/ you on moving polanco to 3rd and benching bell. i cant wait till he hurts his back again. utley needs to play everyday too. they are just holding up his improvment by not playing him and its driving me crazy
why the fuck havent i seen a flyers game this season?

what a great thread.....
i say get rid of thome while he still has market value and bring howard up to play 1st. package thome with bell and get some pitching! i like polanco but not at the expense of having chase on the bench. we need to move him (polanco) to 3rd.
and tops on the list of course is eddie "the fade" wade needs to go!

I usually don't have too many complaints about the way the 'boys do business, but if they drop the ball this time around in the draft, I'm going postal... Julius Jones was the best draft choice this team has made in years, so lets hope they don't trade down again

Oh and I hate Jerry Jones
even though i am a biased eagles fan, the cowboys have made some bad moves recently. i was surprised when the finished 10-6 a couple of seasons ago, but they've been totally down hill from there. i guess as a cowboys fan you have to belive parcells will win eventually

How about the Cubs? Will Baker please get over himself and go get a closer? Seriously, it's pretty embarrassing when the Diamondbacks can pull a prospect out of their ass as a replacement player and have him do better than anybody on your team who is making millions of dollars. ANYONE (semi) available is better - Jorge Julio, Octavio Dotel, Urbina, Danny Graves, could have had Kolb in the offseason, etc. The best we can do is wait and hope for Borowski to come back and be effective. That's pretty scary.
They were 4 blown saves away from the playoffs. Hawkins blew 9 by himself last year, but he wasn't the only problem in that area.
Then how about the wonder twins, Wood and Prior. I don't want to see any more injuries from those pussies this year, that's for sure. Of course, the blame mostly lies with Baker and his ignoring of pitch count in 2003. It's no wonder those guys were burnt last year; I can't believe Zambrano hasn't been hurt yet.
Then you've got Nomar who isn't hitting, Ramirez and his tweaky groin, Walker's hurt, Patterson still won't lay off the high heat, and then they're starting fucking Hollandsworth over DuBois. They need to give him the chance to sink or swim, seriously. But Baker is averse to letting young guys play.
Maddux was one of the dumbest pickups ever. Seriously, any #3 starter form the American League would have equal numbers to him at this point in his career. Had they done this in 98 it would have been different.
I am happy that they got rid of Clement, Sosa, and Alou, though.
