what do you guys think? does he deserve to lose his season tickets, or are the Sox making an example of this guy?
edit: or both?

Did he just touch Sheffield or did he hit him? I mean, if he was trying to injure the guy, he deserve to lose the tickets. If he was just drunk and fucking around, I say he should get the boot for a month or something.

I think that the fan should lose his tickets.......
and that they should be given to me! hahaha.....
Good call with the beer throwing guy not being able to buy tickets for the rest of the year, too (although i would imagine that penalty could easily be gotten around).

I'd like to see the fans become a more intregal part of the game. I think we should reward fans for this kind of distraction. It would certainly make the game more exciting if you never knew when someone was going to jump onto the field and tackle the left fielder or throw two baseballs at the first baseman trying to catch the throw for an out.
That would rock! I say give this guy a better seat.

i'm not sure where i stand on this..i don't agree with what he did at all and obviously fan interference has been an ongoing problem for awhile now...but the punishment seems like it might be a little too harsh...if this sets an example and interference decreases then i'll say the punishment was fine

I think it's the right punishment.
He's a douche, he acted like a fucking moron, and he deserved a beat down on the field.
and if Sheffield gets a fine from baseball which would be ridiculous, the fan should be sued for causing the whole thing and should be forced to pay the entire penalty.
Baseball should be fining the idiot fan, not Gary Sheffield, the fan caused the entire incident.
I think the important thing is the message left. Do not make any attempt to interfere with a ball in play or you are subject to punishment. Period.
Sit in your seat, watch the game.
true, but simple "fan interference" happens often. Obviously the Red Sox felt this situation demanded a stiffer punishment that what fans typically get (ejection).
