can someone please explain to me what in the hell the dodgers are doing? i cant understand this @ all
Maybe they're looking at a guy like Ordonez or something. Other than that I am confused at this trade. Did they really have to give all that up just to get rid of Shawn Green?

the diamondbacks would make out well here, getting penny, green, and a young flamethrower for the bullpen.
i still think green is way overrated and overpaid - i think he even makes more than randy by a little bit. but it'd be a good veteran pickup, and penny is good.

i think i am more upset of the dodgers losing brazeban than green. last year down the stretch that guy was lights out now they traded him

1. Who else thinks Vazquez becomes one of the NL's best pitchers again as soon as he's out of New York?
2. ESPN is now reporting that this deal is not nearly as done as New York Newsday reported it was. The Beltre signing and Shawn Green's no-trade clause are apparently serious obstacles, at the moment.

I kinda wanted the yanks to give vasques on more year, but oh well. I think he'll be much more effective back in the national league, but not one of the best.
Okay, so this deal is officially dead now. The Dodgers backed out.
What I found interesting is what Randy Levine, the Yankees' president, had to say about it. Apparently, he's pretty pissed:
"The Dodgers reneged on the deal that was agreed to last Friday, unequivocally and with no contingencies except for a window for contract extensions and physicals," Levine said. "For some reason, the Dodgers over the weekend started to backpedal. Why they would break their word is only something they can answer. It sure is disappointing, and we'll have to think long and hard before ever doing business with the Dodgers again."
But, um... he seems to be overlooking the fact that the Dodgers' best offensive player was signed by another team over the weekend. So, they rightfully began having issues with trading away their best slugger and one of only a couple of decent offensive players on their roster.
I mean... WTF is Levine talking about? What an ass. "For some reason?" Fucking duh! The reason is two words long: Adrian Beltre.

typical yankee bullshit. Levine can suck a dick. His fuckhole organization leaked this trade the the NY press before it was ever "agreed upon" trying to strongarm Depodesta into a bad deal.
Depo had the balls to back out because this trade destroyed the 2005 Dodgers. Good for him. The yankees can go to hell, they are upset that Depodesta didnt get on his knees and suck the evil empire's cock?
tough shit. Dodger fans have other worries. Like why JD Drew can get 11 million but Beltre cant get 13?

Hah, the DBacks are stupid. I hope Glaus never recovers just to show them what fools they are.
I'm a Yanks fan, but I don't think it's that stupid for the D-Backs to get 2 young, solid pitchers to build back their lineup while getting rid of a guy who's got maybe 3 seasons max in his tank left.
Johnson is a great pitcher, no doubt, but the D-Backs have huge issues seeing as how they basically gave Randy about 2 runs per game offensive support.
