I've hardly ever heard anything said about Larry Doby except around the time of his death. From what I've heard about him, he certainly deserves more recognition than he gets. Tell me what you know about the man.

First African American in the American League.

Had decent stats.

Lived about 5 minutes from my house in Montclair, NJ (same town as Yogi Berra.) but I never met him.

And that's all I have to say about that.

When the All Star Game was in Cleveland in 1997, they had a display on him at the Experience and gave out special baseball cards. At the time, he was still alive and was involved with the game in Cleveland, I saw him around there when I went to the game.

Seeing how it is on the first page of a "Larry Doby" google image search, I respectfully disagree.

I can prove how controversial is mispelled in that statement.
