I've been seeing a lot of Prefontaine articles and tributes to him on the internet and on tv lately. His tragic death happened 30 years ago this week. I've never been much of a track and filed fan until i read about Pre and watched Without Limits(the greatest sports movie of all time). I even bought the ocumentary "Fire on the Track" about Pre and it is truly inspiring.I wasn't alive when he ran but he is still one of my favorite athletes of all time. His cockiness, his rebellion against the AAU(which eventually was ousted due to Pre's bashing of it), his height for a distance runner, just his demeanor in general. Never has a dead athlete caught my attention so much. I just figured i'd make a thread to pay tribute to Pre and reccommend to other posters to read about him and his accomplishments.

Pre kicked ass. as a former college runner who idolized him to go to U of O and watch a race then go up to the hills above campus to the spot he died was one of the most moving and emotional things I have ever done.
RIP PRE

You went to O of U? He must be a god up there. I'm guessing by the amount of posts that most peple haven't heard of him. I force people to watch Fire on the Track. I have the good weed so they have to watch. They usually end up as curious as i was about Pre
