Well I'm a baseball fan above anything else and so the most obvious one springs to mind to me is Boston/NY. And I'm not talking about necessarily just right now, like for example now and for a couple years the Phillies & Mets have established a good rivalry, but it doesn't have much history to it.

MLB:
Red Sox/Yankees
Cubs/Cardinals
Dodgers/Giants

NFL:
Eagles/Cowboys
Packers/Bears
Patriots/Jets

NBA:
Lakers/Celtics

I'm not really much of a basketball or hockey guy so I guess not too many obvious ones come to mind for me there. And I've never given a shit about college sports, so...

But college has the best rivalries.

Cowboys/Redskins is a bigger and better rivalry than Cowboys/Eagles.

I say no way on Pats/Jets. Thats a head coaching feud, not a true rivaly.

Definitely Montreal-Toronto! Another hockey rivalry...

Edmonton Oilers - Calgary Flames

It's pretty funny that the "best sports rivalries" are apparently all located in the US.

Here's my football selection:

Fluminense-Flamengo (rio de janeiro people vs middle class)
Fenerbahce-Galatasaray (the battle of istanbul)
FC Barcelona-Real Madrid (Catalan vs national)
Lazio Roma - AS Roma (rome people vs. middle class)
Celtic Glasgow - Glasgow Rangers (catholic vs protestant)

Hmm, really? Because honestly I was even pondering Cowboys/Giants moreso, but I certainly defer to those who know more than I. Also for the record I wasn't trying to say college football doesn't have worthy rivalries or anything, just that I'm the very last person to know which ones they would be. I don't doubt there's a slew of good ones.

Broncos/Raiders.

When you have feuds all the way up to the owners, GMs, and head coaches, that's a sign of a good rivalry.

Well I was thinking soccer had to have some great and historic ones, but shit I know even less about those than I do of hockey :P

Honestly, the NFC East is really one huge rivalry. See: The NFC East thread.

Packers/Bears gets a lot of attention, but honestly, every single Packers fan I know hates the Vikings FAR more than the Bears.

I don't suppose there's anything to Cowboys/Lions... ? Just seems like over the years those guys have played each other on Thanksgiving lots. But maybe I'm misremembering.

Wait, what? Do you mean OSU/UF given recent history? Even so, not much of a rivalry.

Maybe he was talking about that HEATED Oregon St-Fresno St rivalry. :P

This one would be so much better if both teams were actually good at the same time for once.
