I obviously say the Cowboys of the 90's... if the salary cap wasn't introduced the Cowboys would have easily been competitive/won through the late 90's... that 1992 team was stocked for winners... yet even after the salary cap the Cowboys made it to an NFC Championship game in '94 (in which they lost on a bum-ass no-call on Deion) and won the SB the next year... the Cowboys were easily still the best team in the NFL even the next few years after the cap was introduced... and if Jimmy Johnson sticks around? Fuhhgeddabouddit! What a team that was...

The Niners of the 80's? Puhlease... they had a weak ass division and had some CUPCAKES in the their Super Bowl games.

My #2 pick for best dynasty? The 1970's Cowboys... suckers.

And that 1994 Niners team was literally built to beat the Cowboys, and illegally so if I remember correctly... and they still barely won in that NFC Championship game.

1970s Steelers is by far the best dynasty in football history.

it's gotta be the Steelers of the 70's. They didn't seem that dominating but 4 Super Bowls in 8 years is the best we're gonna see unless the Pats keep rolling. I'm gonna try and rattle all of the Hall of Famers off the top of my head from that team.

Bradshaw
Harris
Swann
Webster
Greene
Ham
Lambert
Shell
Greenwood?
Stallworth should be in(is he?)

The 60's Green Bay Packers. End of discussion.

It can also be argued that Dallas had two separate dynasties........the early-mid 90's.........but I also argue that the 70's Cowboys were a dynasty as well. Now, they did not win 4 Superbowls in the 70's like Pittsburgh did, but in the 70's, the Dallas Cowboys:

*Won 2 Superbowls.

*Won 5 NFC Championships (5 SB Games, Half of the SB's played in that decade!)

*Won the NFC East 7 times in the 70's.

*most playoff wins of any team in the 70's.

*Made the playoffs every year of that decade except one.

*Lead the NFL in total offense 6 times in the 70's.

*Doomsday Defense of the 70's is to this day considered one of the best defenses in NFL History.

*the three Superbowls they lost, they lost by a COMBINED 11 points.

*the two SB's they won, they won by a combined 34 points.

Even though the Steelers are considered the "Team of the 70's", would anyone argue that the Cowboys of the 70's were not a dynasty?

Regardless, this boils down to what perspective of a dynasty you look at. If it's for a single core groups of players, then it's the Steelers hands down. If it's for the tenure of a single coach with more than one group of core players, it would have to be the 9ers. If it's a 3,4, or 5 year period, it's NE and Dallas.

As great as the early 90's were, I have little doubt that Dallas would have won at least 5 Super Bowls if Jerry and Jimmy could've gotten along. I think Jones has finally learned his lesson, but it's a shame it took a decade in the lower half of the NFL for him to learn it.

Aside from having multiple other titles, I think Dallas holds the best unofficial title, and that's being the best franchise since the merger. What Landry and then Johnson did combined trumps the accomplishments of any other franchise since the leagues merged.

Really impossible to say. The 4 obvious contenders are the Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers, and Packers. It really is to close to call, because if you look at how they did, not one team really kicked more ass then the next. I'm going to be a homer, and say the Cowboys, because they had two dynastys. But fuck if the Patriots win a couple more Super Bowls in the next 5 or 6 years, they will be up there to.

The Pats have already won as many Superbowls as the '90's Cowboys. So I'm not sure why they need to win a couple more Superbowls to even get in the conversation. Considering they did it during the salary cap era I think the Pats dynasty is already more impressive than what the Cowboys did.
