So we're about to lose the Ashes on home soil. Sucks to be Australian cricket at the moment. Things might not get better soon either.

Watson - He's in my 11 but not sure where. Doesn't seem to want to go on and make big scores.
Hughes - Weird technique. Need to see more of him. Unfortunately he isn't hanging around long enough for me to have a look.
Ponting - Sadly his time is over. Wish that he hadn't blown up at the MCG over that call. A bad way to go out.
Clarke - Form trough. Still our next best option as captain.
Hussey - Has been a champion all series. I hope he gets a chance to reflect soon and go out on his own terms.
Smith - Will stick around. Has talent but has a lot to learn.
Haddin - Close to our MVP this summer. If only we could get him and Tim Paine into the same 11.
Johnson - Flashes of brilliance. Not as dependable as you'd like, obviously.
Harris - Love this guy. Might not see him back again, given chronic knee problem and current injury.
Hilfenhaus - Also love this guy. Has toiled for not much result. A shame.
Siddle - Not sure whether I like him terribly but he keeps bowling great spells.

North - Loved him when he was making runs but obviously completely out of form.
Doherty - This was a bad idea.
Beer - This was a much worse idea.
Katich - A good campaigner but it would seem that his time is over.

I pretty much gave up on the boxing day test match when we were going to be bowled out for less than 100 before tea on the first day :shake: What i dont get is that its almost the same English team from 4 years ago without Flintoff! Credit to them though, their batting and bowling was fucken awesome.

Agree with you there about the team but Ponting's time is over. He came into this series knowing everything was at stake and sadly i just couldnt see the killer instinct in him. Hes the captain, hes gotta lead from the front and that never say die attitude just wasnt there and didnt rub off onto the rest of the guys when it was needed. Found him to be all talk and no action. Makes it hard for the bowlers to defend our pissy little totals on a batsmans wicket.

This series has proven that the band aid approach isnt working and maybe clearing out the dead wood, rebuilding from the ground up around players like Smith might be the way to go.

Hopefully we can level the series in Sydney but i doubt it, the Poms have smashed us fair and square :(

Well OK I exaggerated slightly Alistair Cook and Tim Bresnan (Or any 1 of Englands bowlers really) are the number one test team in the world.

Although we are winning the one dayers 2-0 in Sri Lanks, bit of a surprise, Punter back in good form  We are still number 1 in the world rankings for one day games, sure doesn't feel like it however.

Whatever the cause of his suicide, there goes the finest cricket writer of our time - Peter Roebuck, 1956-2011

He jumped while the police were interviewing him apparently, little bit of an indication of guilt i would suggest. Previously he got into trouble with treatment of minors, just saying.

He was a good writer, but he was no Martin-Jenkins, Premachandran or Barnes. I particularly enjoyed his incrimination of blatant Australian cheating during the 2008-2009 Indian tour.

Not at all, claiming grounded catches.

It's all here in this pamphlet of propaganda. Bucknor is the worst umpire I have ever seen.

so not really then?

I remember this, Harbajan called Symonds a monkey (again) and Tendulker lied about it at the discipline meeting.

Australia were certaintly poor in some areas.

Not walking when hitting it has happened 12,345 times in Test Cricket. However we got the benefit of every bad decision. This does not mean they are cheating however. Bucknor started very well in his umpiring career but umpired for 3 or 4 years too long.

I am biased because i played in the same club team and juniors with Ponting and went to the same school.

Ponting has to be my least favourite person in all Cricket. Absolutely. I don't think Harbhajan said it, I think it was a contrived lie by the Australian team to get Harbhajan away due to the fact he kept doing Ponting over in every test (he has the best record of dismissals for Ponting out of any bowler in the world). Perhaps I am biased too, but then, seeing as we have video evidence of Ponting giving 'his word' when he was clearly lying with the grounded catches, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

It truly has to be the worst moment of a game which prides itself on its sportsmanship, for both teams. And one key thing to remember, in Indian culture, to use the term 'Monkey' for anyone is a stock word for 'idiot'. I wouldn't dream of condoning it, as an ethnic minority myself, I wouldn't want anyone to use any words that word offend another, but it was far more likely to be a storm in a teacup on this occasion. The number of players from other teams who came out after the series an stated that Australia were not only the most offensive and unsportsmanlike team to play against, but also could not take what they dished out suggests that they were nothing short of hypocracy.

 That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. If you honestly think that, then it is a waste of time trying to discuss anything.

Interesting that Harbhajan did not get picked for the series this summer and everyone is getting Ponting out cheap atm.

Here is India, getting a raw deal from everyone.
