I really liked Lewis, but I also see the need for a change. I think the entire team will be overhauled, since I don't see a lot of the older players even bothering to come back once this lockout is over with. Not to mention they can't afford the team they've put on the ice in recent years with the cap.

I wish Lewis luck and I'm sure he'll end up somewhere else and be successful. I wonder where Barry Smith will land.

I think babcock is gonna be a great hire, his second season he had so many injuries, it wasn't even right to offer the guy who took your fucking team to it's only stanley cup appearence and a game 7 only a 1 year deal. I would tell brian burke to go fuck himself too!

After watching Barry Melrose for the past 5 or 6 years on NHL 2Night and on ESPN, my appreciation and respect has really grown. I would love to see him coach the Wings.

However, I don't think Barry is interested in coaching position. I mean, he's got the best gig in the world right now because he doesn't have to answer to an owner or a GM. Plus, the Wings aren't a young team, and I think Barry would be GREAT with a group of younger players.

I love Barry, but I don't think he'll ever coach again. I think he's been away from the game too long and also loves his position with ESPN.

I would disagree with your "Wings aren't a young team". I think they will quickly become one in the next couple years. The salary cap is going to hit them hard, not to mention a lot of older players just hanging up the skates.

The most consistent concern I've had with the current lockout situation is the possibilty I won't get to see Yzerman have a proper farewell season.
