I am going, just got back in the states on Tuesday and I know the M's suck but I hope Palmerio gets 3000 hits today or tomorrow. Only reason I want to go see the M's play.

That's something really special and I;m sure the Seattle fans will show that to Raffy joining Murray, Arron, and Willie Mays as the only 3 to hit 500 and 3000. Pretty good company for RAffy.
What would help the O's would be a sweep of SEA or 3of 4 along with NYY and BOS beating the hell out of each other,

Trust me...it WILL happen. Do you know how well Raffy hits in Seattle? Honestly, if he had played for the M's his whole career, he might be going for hit #4000 tonight, not 3000.

I'm not going to look up the stats, but it seems like the guy jacks at least one out every single time his team plays a series in Seattle...not to mention all the other singles & doubles. When in Seattle, Raffy pwns.

That was very respectful of the M's fans last nite. Funny when they booed SEA 's pitchers when RAffy was walked and when he didn't get to hit in the 9th. At least, unlike ESPN, they see the significane of this.

Seattle sports radio was ripping on the M's fans for this. In a 1 run game in the 8th, you're booing your own pitcher because he's being careful in pitching to one of the most dangerous hitters in MLB history? I guess they wanted him to groove a fastball so Raffy could hit a bomb out of Safeco. There's respect (which most Mariner fans have for Palmeiro) and then there's just strange. Sometimes Seattle sports fans boggle my mind.

Speaking as a Mariner's fan who attended the game...

For a number of reasons, which I could debate for hours, I would have rather seen Raffy get #3000 than see the M's win last night, given the context of the situation. Obviously if we had any speck of hope for the playoffs this year, it would be different. But in the scope of a 162 game season, one in which we're probably going to lose 100 games anyways, what's one more loss? I mean, how many times to you get to witness someone get #3000?

Also, it would be different if the player was a prick like Jeter or something...Like I said, I could go on about this for hours. I did not boo when he walked, but again, I would have loved to see him get that hit given the context of the situation and the season the M's are having.

(By the way...it was really cool to see all the flashbulbs go off around the stadium every time we threw a pitch to him...I can't remember the last time I was at a game where that happened...a really cool sight to see!)

I didn't see it but I agree with you. In a close game you root for YOUR team, if he gets the hit you give him the respect but if you are an M's fan you are there to see your team win, I think.

So he did it. 'Atta boy. Now that this whole thing has passed, the focus needs to be on getting to the playoffs.

Jeter will get his 3,000 one day, although he will not be anywhere near 500+ HR's. I am sure he will be happy with his rings instead.

Thanks for all the Mariner's fans being respectful last nite and tonite. It was a special nite in baseball, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Texas Rangers organizations.
I can't believe the sports radio in SEA were ripping on you guys at the park yesterday! I'm hope they just wanted a story and if they were there would have done the same.

I kind of see their point. It wasn't like the fans were saying "aww shucks, I really wanted to see Raffy get his hit". They were booing, which is usually reserved for ARod around this town. Booing, as in, "Julio Mateo, you suck. You're suppposed to give up the milestone hit because we paid to see it." It was just kind of strange. You're supposed to root for your team, not against them.

It's strange how people like to insult Jeter even when it's totally irrelevant and uncalled for...

Anyway, I'm glad I got to see Palmeiro's double last night. I respect the guy and hope he also reaches that 3000 hit, 600 hr mark.

It was a cool night to be a part of. I went to Thurs and Fri games. Had to make sure to be there for history. Raffy is a class guy and deserved the attention. To bad for him and Oriole fans it didn't happen in Baltimore but I am glad it happened in a place where I could be part of it.

I don't like Jeter, I don't like the Yankees, and I wouldn't want to be a part of anything where people were celebrating his success.

You answered the second question but completely ignored the first, so your original statement is still stupid.
