Notre Dame will never join a conference unless they are promised a larger sum of money than what they are getting now as an independent with their own TV deal.

Exactly. Their early success this year has gotten them another contract on NBC, I'm sure. Not that I blame Notre Dame at all for this. Just good marketing.

Bet they don't get that TV deal again. They'd have to finish in the top 10 for the rest of their contract for NBC to even consider it. Who the fuck wants to watch a 5-3 ND team play Air Force or Purdue?

Shit I forgot about that. They need 9 wins to get a BCS birth, which means they have to win 5 of their last 6 games: USC, BYU, Tennessee, Navy, Syracuse, and at Stanford.

Didn't they make it one year with 5 wins? Not a BCS game but a bowl game?

I just looked it up......suprised that they have lost 6 straight bowl games.
Last year they played in a Bowl with a 6-6 record.
In 2000 they played in a New Years day bowl with a 9-3 record.
In 1997 they played in the Indipendence Bowl with a 7-6 record
In 1995 they went 9-3 and played in the Orange Bowl
In 1994 they went 6-5-1 and played a New Years Day game, the Fiesta Bowl.
In 1987 they went 8-4 and were rewarded with a Cotton Bowl on New Years Day
in 1983 and 1984 they went 7-5 and played in Bowl games.
I think I hate them even worse after looking that up.
