I'm totally joking with this -
It's almost as if ESPN is orchestrating this whole Tebow thing.
First, Manning ends up on the team Tebow is on, so not only do they get to talk about where Manning signs and how it will affect the team, but they also get to talk endlessly about where Tebow will be traded.
Then, when Tebow does get traded it's to New York, the biggest market in the country and now home to the two most undeservedly overhyped pro athletes - Tebow and Jeremy Lin.
It won't be long before there's an ESPN story about Tebow and Lin.

my god you are right. this is going to be unbearable.
Don't worry, Tebow isn't going to last long in New York. He has 6 or 7 months of his own team and fans hating him while the media continues to take every chance they get to talk about him and how bad he is to look forward to.

ESPN's "breaking news" about the Jets-Denver deal potentially being off is interesting....especially since ESPN earlier reported that it was a done deal.

:journalism:
The Jets announced the trade before they red Tebow's contract and realized they would owe him 5 million dollars.

5 of the first 10 topics today on SportsCenter were Tebow related.
Sportscenter, along with much of their programming, is pretty much unwatchable anymore.
I usually watch the last 10 minutes of the 7 am Sportscenter for top ten and the first few minutes of the 8 am. I think I'm going to watch something else.

The first 21 minutes of First Take was Bayless and Smith talking about Tebow. The Peyton Manning to Denver topic didn't get half that as the first topic.

Fair point...but did the Jets issue a formal announcement, such as a press release?
I guess my problem with sports "journalism" these days, in general, is the need to break the story first, always getting it wrong, and then repackaging the mistake as breaking news...ESPN does this all the time.

yeah it's frustrating because now it's essentially on the consumer to get 3 sources and wait enough time to make sure a story is valid. It's like this with virtually every news outlet now. CNN/FOX/MSNBC are notorious for this.
Now it's page views on the story, the retraction and the new story.

For me, the modern day "breaking news" phenomena began during the Clinton-Lewinsky story....I remember cable news was all over this during college with the big red "breaking news" headlines...
