Pretty much just means they blocked him from going to another contender
maybe the rangers will just dump him onto the twins. that'd be hilarious.
why? the twins would make out pretty well if that happened.

only if they make the playoffs, and, well, i don't think they will.
If it happened today, getting Soriano for nothing except his salary for the last month and a half of the season when Texas was previously demanding top prospects for him would be a steal. Whether or not they make the playoffs has nothing to do with it.

whether they make the playoffs has a lot to do with whether it would be worth it for them.
whether it's funny depends completely on whether you like soriano or not. i don't, and i think he's overrated, thus it would be funny if his current team simply dumped him for nothing.

so if the Twins get him without giving up players, and they fall one game short of the wild card, it wasn't worth a shot? Ok.
I think it would be funny for a different reason. The Texas GM could have received prospects for Soriano 3 weeks ago. It would be pretty funny if he ended up receiving nothing for him, and their return on the A-Rod trade was reduced to Arias.

it's not my million dollars, so it's not my judgement, but if it was i wouldn't want to spend it for nothing. i'd rather just call up liriano to make a bigger difference.

glad you agree it'd be funny, though you forgot to add payroll flexibility.
